| Situated near the top of the hill of Montmartre, the artistic center of Paris from the middle of the 19th century until now, this wonderful house, with its large 50 square meter terrace looking directly onto the dome of the Sacre Coeur is a rare opportunity not to be missed. Montmartre was the home to many of the greatest artists of the 19th and 20th centuries, including Van Gogh, Picasso, Utrillo, Renoir, Modigliani, Monet and Salvador Dali.
Whilst being intramuros (or within the walls of the city of Paris) it has retained the feeling of a small French country village that it once was; small meandering alleys and cobbled streets are filled with small houses and artists ateliers that are quite picturesque. Take a walk in the early morning a few blocks away on the place du Tertre and you will feel as if you are in another, more romantic era. Walk up a few of the typical rows of stairs that are just at the end of the street and you will be right in front of the famous Sacre Coeur cathedral, with the most breathtaking view of Paris. This independent house, is on three levels, measuring about 150 square meters, not counting the cellar with washing and drying machines, and its 50 square meter roof terrace with its most incredible view. On the ground floor, to the right of the staircase is the living room, which used to be an artists studio, with its monumental window, five and a half meters high ceiling, 18th century marble fireplace, tastefully decorated with beautiful furniture and artwork, overlooked by a library in the mezzanine of the second level. To the left of the staircase is the dining room, with its stone floors, large table for six, and open kitchen, fully equipped with dishwasher, gas cooker and stove, and everything you need to make a nice meal. From the back of the dining room you can access the staircase leading down to the cellar. On the second level, there is a study, with a desk and a convertible sofa which can sleep two additional guests, the library overlooking the living room and a water closet. The third and last level has the two main bedrooms with queen-sized beds , with either views of Sacre Coeur or the hill and vineyards of Montmartre; and a white-tiled bathroom with original fixtures and bathtub. From the hallway, you have access by a staircase to the landscaped terrace equipped with table, chairs, umbrella, terracotta tiled floor and, of course, its remarkable view; looking up to the Sacre Coeur cathedral and on another side the whole Paris skyline, breathtaking at day or night time.
