| This delightful country home is located in a tranquil old village, about one hour's drive to central Paris (or 30 minutes by train), and only 15 minutes from Monet's famous house and garden at Giverny, featured in so many of his paintings. Also nearby is the American Museum with its excellent collection of American impressionists. This is a lovely part of rural France, with pretty stone villages and fine restaurants. The village offers tennis and horse riding, while the nearby country club (11 kms away) offers tennis, golf, pool and child care facilities (summer memberships available). There's also a general store and restaurant in the village, with more stores, a pharmacy etc. at Vetheuil (2 kms). Within an easy day's outing are Versailles, Chantilly, St Germain en Laye and much more! There is virtually no public transportation to or from the train station, therefore, it is necessary for guests to rent a car when they stay at this property.
The two hundred-year-old stone-built house, measuring around 3,000 square feet, is set in a delightful, fully enclosed garden, with lawn and flowers. (Garden furniture, ping pong table in play house.) The house has been charmingly furnished and decorated by its Franco-American owners in a comfortable country style, with lots of antiques and pretty fabrics.
French windows from the garden lead to a lovely large beamed sitting/dining area on two levels, with open fire, sofa and armchairs and dining table for 8. There is a nice, well-equipped eat-in kitchen with dishwasher. There's also a utility room with freezer and washer/dryer. On the garden level is the first bedroom, with twin beds, an ensuite shower, and French doors leading to the garden. Open tread stairs lead to the master bedroom on the first floor (one flight up), with its king size double bed, flowery fabrics and little balcony. More simply decorated is the third bedroom, carpeted, with its two single beds. The fourth bedroom also has two single beds and is carpeted. This floor also features a WC and bathroom with tub, shower, leading to small study (also accessible via the kitchen). Central heating. Initial linen supplied.
