The Marais hardly needs an introduction. One of the most ancient quartiers of Paris, the fine old buildings and squares have been carefully restored over the years and both Parisians and tourists love to explore its maze of narrow streets, attractive boutiques, countless cafes and restaurants. We especially enjoy the rue des Francs Bourgeois. The Place des Vosges (5 minutes walk) is one of the purest examples of 17th century architecture, and there are often open air concerts in the square. Also within walking distance, the Picasso Museum, Pompidou Centre, the banks of the Seine, the Ile St Louis, Ile de la Cite, flower market, Notre Dame and much more!
Everyone knows the Rue des Rosiers — a narrow bustling street where cafes, modest and not-so-modest restaurants jostle for space with designer boutiques — a street of contradictions! The center of the old Jewish quarter, the area is a favorite of Parisians and tourists alike. A heavy wooden door in a deep cobbled porch opens onto a characteristic Parisian courtyard where an ancient staircase winds up to our third floor apartment (four flights up). While the apartment is modestly appointed, the size and especially the location appeals to those on limited budgets wanting nevertheless to be in the heart of things.
Good value for up to 4 people vacationing together, this apartment (some 405 square feet) is characteristic of the area and a convenient base for visiting Paris — comfortable but not grand, reasonably priced! Plain polished wood floors, white painted walls and colorful prints give this apartment a simple Provencal air — modern furnishings and decoration. Front door opens directly into a cheerful kitchen/dining area with breakfast bar with stools, good cooking corner, 2 burners, small electric oven and washing machine. Bedroom with twin beds overlooks the courtyard. A large sunny sitting room with double glazed windows overlooks the street; it contains a double sofabed, TV and a large walk-in closet which offers ample storage space. Off the dining area/kitchen are a small shower and separate WC. Electric heating. Linen supplied.
