It's a vast area with woods, lake and grass crisscrossed by roads bringing you as close to tranquility as you can get in the city centre. There are any number of attractions for those who want to do more than just stroll or sunbathe: a tiny boating lake, a zoo and some of the city's finest museums. The Pincio isn't formally part of the Villa Borghese, but its terrace and gardens, fringed with busts of classical and Italian heroes, give fine views over the rooftops of Central Rome, right across to St. Peter's. From the southern edge of Villa Borghese you find Via Veneto, one of the most beautiful Roman streets. The bars and restaurants lining the street were made famous by Fellini's La Dolce Vita.
