The triangular area bound by Piazza del Popolo, the Corso, the edge of the Villa Borghese and Piazza di Spagna is historically the artistic quarter of the city, for which eighteenth and nineteenth century Grand Tourists would come in search of the colorful, exotic city. Local artistic often meet at the Caffè Greco and Babington's Tea Rooms. Leading south from Piazza del Popolo, Via del Babuino and the narrow Via Margutta, was the core of a thriving art community and home to the city's best galleries and a fair member of its artists, until high rents forced out all but the most successful.
