9th century is an active modern city today with countless attractions to recount its illustrious past. The layout of the medieval town is still preserved around La Paja Square. Nearby lies the arcaded Plaza Mayor, and La Plaza de la Villa with the beautiful city hall. Both are 17th century Baroque. A bit more modern, the Royal Palace is a magnificent example of 18th century palace architecture.
