Mentioned in the Domesday Book, the village is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are two pubs within easy walking distance including the Three Horseshoes "gastropub" in Powerstock, and many beautiful walks and mountain bike trails for more active pursuits. The fine sandy beaches and magnificent cliff walks of the west Dorset coastline, now a World Heritage site and largely controlled by the National Trust, are a 15-minute drive away.
