This delightful property has been built on the site of an old wine distillery, hence its name 'Adega Velha' and stands in a very peaceful hillside setting near to the border between the Algarve and the Alentejo region. It offers an ideal holiday location for anyone seeking rural tranquillity who also want to be within an easy drive of the coast and beaches. This is a relatively unknown part of the Algarve where life proceeds at a fairly relaxed pace. The house stands within a hectare of land but is not isolated: the helpful English caretakers live nearby and are on hand to give advice; they will also do washing and ironing by arrangement. 

The interior is furnished in an attractive, comfortable style and the owners have taken great care with their choice of decor. Whilst being modern, the house has character and an informal atmosphere with home entertainments such as a stereo system and satellite TV. The kitchen is equipped with electric oven, gas hob and fridge-freezer, and there are two bathrooms to serve the two bedrooms.

Outside, there is plenty of space in which to roam or sunbathe and, if shade is sought, there is a lovely covered terrace which spans the length of the house, as well as a covered terrace and a hammock by the swimming pool.

For shopping, the town of São Marcos da Serra offers most facilities and the larger town of São Bartolomeu de Messines, 20 km away, offers all facilities. A forty minute drive will take you to a variety of sandy beaches including Albufeira and Armacão de Pêra.
